Day 72 ~ Highlights and Meme of General Conference

So what about you? Any goals in particular? Favorite quotes? Thoughts in general? Come join in the fun.

General Conference Book Club week 1 has already begun. Plus Steph over at Diapers and Divinity is having General Conference Meme and Trivia Contest. Everyone is encouraged to play along. Here are my answers to the the Meme and then I'm heading right over to win the prize!

1. Who were your three favorite speakers?

I definitely have more than 3 but here are some of them that truly impacted my heart.
Elder Holland, Elder Christofferson, President Uchdorft and Elder McConkie

2. Favorite talk?

Elder Holland! From the moment he opened his talk, I could feel his love and the love of my Savior. He told the story of the aged women who was and is a "helper." I was alreading crying, but when he bore his testimony and thanked her I was sobbing. Prayers do get answered!

3. Favorite hymn sung during Conference?

We Thank Thee O God For a Prophet

4. Who wore the best tie?

To be honest, I really wasn't paying attention to the ties, but the one tie I did notice was Elder Bednar's. I think the only reason I even looked at it was because it reminds me of one my son, has. It was diagnal stripe blue with either light blue or silver. Just reminded me of Brendon.

5. Do you think conference had a “theme”?

Agency and Repentance

6. Share a few of your favorite quotes (paraphrasing is fine).

"We become what we want to be by consisently being what we become. "
~Richard G. Scott

"Because of your faith, my joy is full."
~Jeffery R. Holland

"What matters most in learning, is attitude. The attitude of the teacher. . . .What matters most
is the attitude or spirit by which the teacher teaches. "
~David M. McConkie

"True success in this life by consecrating our lives to God's purposes."
~Todd D. Christofferson

"Diligently doing the things that matter most will lead us to the Savior."
~Deiter F. Uchdorft

"Our agency is more powerful than the advesary's will."
~Boyd K. Packard

“If we have one hand on the rod and one hand in the world, we put our children and youth in danger of losing their way on the path. . . .Clarity can only result from having both hands on the rod and from living by the truths found in the scriptures and the words of latter-day prophets. "
~Mary N. Cook

7. Something that made you smile during conference.

There were many things that made me laugh, but the one thing that made me just smile was the talk given by M. Russell Ballard. I loved it when he showed the clip of the fly fisher. I made me smile because my son, Brendon, who is serving in the Oregon Portland mission used fly fishing as analogy to one of his investigators. AWESOME!

8. Any evidence that your children paid attention?

Kelsey started laughing during President Uchdorfts talk when he stated "they used pencils." She continued throughout the day to share just that part and then she would start laughing.

9. If you had to give a talk in General Conference (don’t faint, this is hypothetical), what do you think you’d speak about?

Developing a personal relationship with the Savior.

10. What are some of your post-conference goals?

To learn more of Christ, by being a better example of the believers, more obedient and diligent, to reduce my "wasted" time, become more service oriented, to be less judgemental, and act on promptings instead of second guessing them. For the family: develop the habit of family scripture study. I have had a desire for many years, but my spouse, who is amazing, has a difficult time with this one. So for my family, my focus will be scripture study.

My kids picked up on pencils before Pres. Uchtdorf even said it? My 8 year old asked why didn't they just use pencils? before he finished telling the story. It was so funny!

Just one of my fave quotes: "The road to discipleship is not for the spiritually faint of heart." -Elder Andersen

I loved all the parent talks, even though I'm not one yet :) Some day hopefully.
