Glaciers, Buffets & Dramamine

DAY 2

After a good nights rest me, Gordon and Amy woke up early the next morning (0600) to see the breathtaking Harvard Glacier located within the College Fjord and Prince William Sound. The Harvard Glacier was a sight to see with its magnificant turquoise color spaning the mountain side at 225 feet high and 1 1/2 miles wide. As we made our passage through the Fjords we could feel a change coming in the air. But little did we know, our day at sea would not remain as calm as we would have hoped. With all the rain and winds during our day sea it would only get worse with swells 30 ft deep, and waves that got as high as the 4th deck. From what the crew said, this was the roughest weather they had encountered since 1969.

Throughout the day Gordon and I kept busy looking for a table large enough so that we could play Settlers of Catan. By wandering the ship we did not feel the roughness of the sea and were able to do a self guided tour of the ship. We did eventually find a table, but the room was being used. Dang it! I wanted to play! Off to lunch we went.
Gordon, Brendon, Cameron and Shane are having fun after eating at the all you can eat buffets. They are growing boys, can't you tell?

The younger kids spent most of the day at their own perspective Camp Carnivals which allowed some of us to enjoy a little peace and quiet. But do you think it lasted long? NO! My brother, Clayton's twins threw up and Hailey came back to the room delerious. She was given a dramamine, to help with the motion sickness, and went to bed. Thank goodness for our friendly neighborhood pharmasist and DRUGS! Vanessa, we are greatful for Elton's profession and someday may call on him for his expertise, but one good thing Hailey never threw up but slept for the rest of the day.

Dinner in the Empire Resturant was fun! Mihai, was our awesome private waiter for the entire trip. We kept Mihai hopping with all of our requests the entire cruise. My family hasn't been to a fancy resturant in ages and the kids loved being treated like royality. A few of us are missing from the group due to illness, but as you will see the rest of us had a great time.
