After a about 5 mile bus ride to the Saxman Village, we went on a 10 minute walk (in the rain) to where the Natives have a Clan House. This is the inside of the building that would fit many people comfortably. The totem pole gives an idea to what their clan represents. The Beaver. Look at it closely and you will see the beaver in the totem poles.
Once the brief history of this Native Village was complete they entertained us with an authentic Saxman dance. The back of the cloaks also represent what family they each represent. It was very interesting to watch.
Once they had finished with their program they invited people from the audience to come up and learn how to do their dances. Hailey and Shane were not shy in the least and gave it try. Hailey is the one near the back with her fun Alaska beanie, Shane is in the front row on the right. They had fun.
Once again we loaded the bus and onto our next actitivity! The Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show!!!!!! Although we had to be in the cold weather, it was pretty HOT!!! Kelsey and Hailey especially thought so.
